چکیده

Tabernaemontana catharinensis is a tree rich in indole alkaloids, such as coronaridine and voacangine that have antileishmanial activity. SFE from T.catharinensis using CO2 + 5.1% (m/m) of cosolvent (ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, methanol, water and their mixtures) was studied. The global yields and the compositions of extracts were determined. The data were taken at 250 bar, 45oC, and total solvent flow rate of 6.1×10 kg/s.The crude extracts were fractionated to obtain the alkaloid-rich fractions. These fractions were analyzed by Thin-layer Chromatography. Gas-chromatography/Flame Ionization Detector was used to quantify the voacangine. The average global yield was approximately constant (2.4±0.1%) for the alcoholic cosolvents; the global yield was significantly larger (15±1%) for the cosolvent water and its mixture alcoholic mixtures. Nonetheless, the content of alkaloids in the extracts was strongly affected by the cosolvent, the methanol showed to be the more effective cosolvent.

Application of preparative high-speed counter-current chromatography for the separation of two alkaloids from the roots of Tabernaemontana catharinensis (Apocynaceae).

The methanolic extract of Tabernaemontana catharinensis (Apocynaceae) roots, which contains alkaloids with several biological activities, was separated on a preparative scale using high-speed counter-current chromatography. The optimum solvent system was found to be a mixture of CHCl(3)-MeOH-H(2)O [5:10:6 (v/v/v)] and led to a successful separation of two monoterpenic indole alkaloids, voachalo...

SFE OF PHARMACOLOGICAL COMPOUNDS FROM Tabernaemontana catharinensis: ANALYSIS OF THE ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTIMYCOBACTERIAL ACTIVITIES

In the present work the pharmacological activities of SFE extracts from T. catharinensis were evaluated. The SFE extracts were obtained using supercritical CO2 plus ethanol as cosolvent (4.6 and 9.2% m/m) at pressures of 250 and 300 bar and temperatures of 35, 45, and 55oC. The crude extracts were solvent-fractionated (hexanic fraction, alkaloid, and aqueous fractions) and analyzed by Thin-laye...

Chemical Constituents Antioxidant and Anticholinesterasic Activity of Tabernaemontana catharinensis

The present work aimed to analyze the alkaloid content of the ethanolic extract of Tabernaemontana catharinensis (Apocynaceae family) and its fractions as well as to evaluate their antioxidant and anticholinesterasic activities. The analyses of the ethanolic extract of T. catharinensis by mass spectrometry allowed identifying the presence of the alkaloids 16-epi-affinine, coronaridine-hydroxyin...
